Welcome to 2nd Grade!
I am a native Austinite and attended the University of Texas where I majored in Education with a minor in English. I began my teaching career at Hyde Park Baptist School teaching 3rd grade for 2 years. Afterwards I moved to teaching 6th, 7th and 8th grade at Porter Middle School (now The Ann Richards School) in Austin ISD for 9 years where I taught Science and Language Arts. After receiving my Special Ed. Certification, I moved into a Reading Lab position for students who were reading below a 3rd grade level. It was such a rewarding experience seeing these older than average non-readers develop a love for reading after struggling for so long. I loved the middle school age (yes, I did!) and the incredible teachers I worked with but felt the pull to come back to the elementary level where I could teach all subject areas and know families on a more personal level. In the fall of 2001, I started teaching 3rd grade at Eanes. It was a dream come true and an honor to be part of a school and a district that sets high standards for all! I taught 3rd till 2012 and then decided to move back into the Special Education Department. I thoroughly loved the setting of the Modified Classroom where I was able to work with students in small groups and help them access the curriculum on their time frame. This will be my sixth year teaching second grade, and absolutely love it! When I am not at school, I love working out (swimming, biking, running) and being with my family outdoors!
